Giuseppe De Luca,

May 10 - June 7, 2014

Opening reception: May 10

De Luca Fine Art is proud to present Infinito, new paintings by esteemed Italian painter Giuseppe De Luca.
Over the years De Luca’s work has become subtler and yet more expressive, while his subjects remain rooted in what he knows best: His homeland, Sicily. The sea and the Iblean Mountains of the area are the main influence of his work. The seashore where boats, piled on the sand, are lost in the sea-sky light of a hot afternoon whose time is marked by lolling waves and muted ship bells. Farmers, fishermen wives and grandmothers: every nuance and emotion of a long-lived life carefully revealed through layered monochromatic patches of dappled light.
For this exhibition De Luca has created a new body of work on location, an plain air, in Canada. His exposure to the Canadian landscape during several visits over the past 17 years, inspired him to captured the Canadian landscape in his characteristic expressive style, with powerful results. His innovative methods have shattered conventional impressionistic techniques and his paintings remain a testament to a profound consideration for the felt emotions and tangible experience. Giuseppe De Luca is without question one of the most expressive modern traditionalist painters in Italy today.
DLFA is truly excited to present these recent Canadian landscapes in dialogue with De Luca’s paintings produced in Italy cover the last few years.
